NOTES for preparations
Matterall (DoW Interview)
Ratati, You are very open with your process
What are players in null supposed to look forward to in Q2
If players are not supposed to get into Aspirational mining – where are they supposed to go and do? Low-Sec?
Thesis of Scarcity Period: Increase conflict = pvp, trade wars, move out of safe areas
Botting
Inequality – unequal power balance between have and have nots
Create demand for useless loot/items
Reduce for overused items

January
In the Declarations of War interview, you mentioned that there were no negative feedback loops for living in sov nullsec. Do you feel that there are no negative feedback loops in living in a very organized super coalition.
-What would you say to those in those super coalitions that feel that these changes are nothing more than an optimization problem to overcome while anticipating their smaller and more vulnerable neighbors feeling more of a hit, how would you address that?

Matterall: This Is Where We Were Before Distribution
— upgrade sov nullsec to increase anomaly spawn for ratting and mining (iHub upgrades create Colossal mining)
— moon mining yielded minerals + moon minerals on a very predictable schedule, a variety of moon options let you pick if you preferred moon materials or utility minerals
— an alliance could own several regions but only used a handful of systems for ratting/industry in a cluster that was heavily defended by structures and capital and subcapital escalations
— CCP had to introduce the Needlejack filaments and Anziblex gates because regions felt so empty as groups collapsed into highly defensible systems
Here Are The Changes Going Forward

And with our guests, This Is What They Mean for Players
Carneros and others
If you could introduce immediate changes into the game to bring it to your vision of a healthy economy, what would they be?
-How did you think of/define the problem of the state of the ecosystem and what was your thinking from problem to solution?
-The Eve Online Ecosystem outlook devblog, you showed a scale of the income in Eve. You described a healthy zone and the ‘unsustainable’ zone that the current economy is in. Why do you think the economy is unhealthy and where do you think healthy is?
-Is the ‘Eclipse’ theme of Quadrant 2 at all related to the black out event of last summer?
-If there is a possibility of players controlling star gates, how would it be balanced throughout the universe?
-In the Declarations of War interview, you mentioned that there were no negative feedback loops for living in sov nullsec. Do you feel that there are no negative feedback loops in living in a very organized super coalition?
-What would you say to those in those super coalitions that feel that these changes are nothing more than an optimization problem to overcome while anticipating their smaller and more vulnerable neighbors feeling more of a hit, how would you address that?
-For players who may have spent months or years chasing & obtaining the biggest and strongest ships in EVE Online, a rebalance of supers and titans might be felt as a kick in the shin. What can they look forward to that still gives them a sense of accomplishment? [Aareya: May be more relevant to a CCP Rise interview]
-For the casual player of EVE Online, these changes may be seen as things limiting their options or choices. What should they look forward to as we enter Eclipse quadrant and Ecosystem Shortage? [Aareya]
In the article, asset safety changes are listed as one of the actions to improve the Conflict Index. Asset safety has been a topic in the community, with some wanting it changed, some wanting it removed. How do you balance the desire to reduce the efficacy of asset safety as a demotivizer to conflict while also preventing “total loss” to players who may be away from the game? [Aareya]
The article mentions new ships and modules to improve the Diversity Index. Does CCP see this as increasing the workload in balancing ships and modules? How does CCP plan to manage this challenge? [Aareya]
What is the hardest change you have had to evaluate?
What is the easiest?
-For Goodfella, for the longest time it seems that CCP did a lot of heavy marketing into the idea that players could achieve their dreams of space conquering predominantly in nullsec. Do you feel that was true and that was detrimental to other playerstyles that are integral to New Eden because of that?
-Do you expect the average experienced EVE player will be making less ISK per hour in 2020 than in 2019?
-What advice do you have for null sec players who still want to be able to afford to support themselves financially?
-Should null sec players just get used to lower salaries and inflation?
-Should wormhole players just get used to medium salaries, higher risk, and regular evictions?
-Are there things from the trailer that will be more geared towards being acquired by players or will they only be in the hands of
NPCs?
The graphics and audio in the Eclipse trailer was outstanding. It gave hints to the 3rd Chapter of Triglavian Invasion and hinted at a new ship, a new weapon system, and star gates being turned off. However, it feels like it was aimed at existing players with a focus on Triglavian lore.
When players try to recruit other players from other games, some still use old trailers, such as “This is EVE” trailer from 2014.
The Jan 2029 trailer, “Official Gameplay (2019) – Play Free!”, was aimed at new players focusing on F2P and career options in EVE.
-Are there plans at a 2020 trailer aimed at new players, capitalizing on the graphical updates and ecosystem changes that may be more welcoming to newer players?
Can wormhole residents expect to see changes in the makeup of the Sleeper salvage?
Can wormhole residents expect to see their mining options changing in the next six months?
If you would like more information on the subject today,
Check out these other interviews: yesterday on the Meta Show, 3/27 (last Saturday) on Push to Talk, 03/01 on Declarations of War
